Help getting started with IPhone?

I just got my IPhone 4 this morning and so far it's looking like it's been well worth the money. I'm figuring out how to answer and even end calls and even set alarms. About the only problem with the latter is that if you want an alarm to go off every day you apparently have to set an alarm for each day. But this is fairly easy to do I discovered, so no biggy. Actually what i'm having problems with is adding new contacts. I click Add and I'm presented with the list of fields to enter information into. So I double tap the one I want and it says Is Editting. So I get down to the various letters and I double tap the letter I want and I get no feedback except a sort of sound like what it plays when you reach the end of a menu. No announcement of wat letter I've jus typed. So I double tap another field and again I get the Is Editting message, but again no feedback about letters I've entered. So when I get done entering the info I want to add, or so I think, I flick to Done, only to find that it's dimmed. Obviously that means it's not available. So I'm wondering how I set things up so I can actually enter info into contact fields since so far it's not letting me. This is the only thing I'm having trouble with so far and any help would be appreciated.

you don't have to set an alarm for every day. set one alarm, then pick where it says repeats one day or whatever, once you pick that. you can check all the days, then you have only one alarm, for every day.

Well the thing is we want one alarm to go off at a certain time during the week while on the weekend it goes off later. But you can just select multiple days? It didn't look like it since it only says selected for one day. I'll experiment as soon as I can get the thing back from my wife. I think she loves the thing even more than I do.

Have you ever looked at blindcooltech.com? I'm not sure if there is a podcast for the iPhone, but I check it out once a month or so just to see what's new. I've found helpful podcasts for a lot of devices there.

I've heard the podcasts on the IPhone but they don't explain why I can't seem to actually enter text in the edit fields in the new contact form. Like I said each time I try to enter a letter it just makes a sound like when you reach the end of a menu. That's the only thing I have trouble with at the moment, well that and ending calls I make. No problem for calls I receive but when it's an outgoing call I don't get speech during the call so I can't find the End button.

,! podca/s arence The podcasts are more demos than andy are actual tutorials. There's a lot that simply isn't there: taking a call, for instance. I'm interested to see what a user posts on here: it'll be educational for any of us moving in that direction. Sounds like there's a button you'll have to push to activate the edit mode somehow.

That's the point. It says to double tap an edit field to enter text into it. So I do and it says is editing. But still there's no feedback on what I've typed. And the contact form is the ONLY one where I have this problem.

bryan your typing mode is probably set to touch typing in which case u just need to pull your finger off the letter u want to type to type it ... to check or change typing mode when in a edit field turn the router till it says typing mode then swipe up or down till it says standared or touch typing. Standard is where u have to double tap each letter to type it. To use the router, double tap in and edit field and then make the motion of turning a knob on the screen with your fingers .. the typing mode is one of the few u have to be in a edit field to get to the other router options varry based on whter u are just on a home screen or a web page etc.

Then it must be for each individual mode because like I said, the contact form is the only one where I have that happen.

I also need help with this. I can't type or make calls. I try to get the router but it doesn't come up. I just get blank phone number.

I still can't use the router but I did manage to type by either tapping a letter 3 times or by putting one finger on a letter and tapping once with another finger. Am I doing this right? Even dough I managed to type I still can't do anything because I keep messing up and have to restart.
